WHAT YOU NEED TO DO

  1. Study the three project briefs, these can be accessed by clicking the PROJECT BRIEFS tab on the right hand menu.

  2. Select ONE of these projects briefs.  Select a project and the product carefully so that it will provide enough ‘meat’/academic application to cover what is required in the project to demonstrate your packaging knowledge. Be aware that picking a project/concept directly related to your own company may restrict your thinking. You are encouraged to think of products you purchase or consume. This will give you the interest but will not narrow down your thinking about the possible solutions or proposals. Spend some time looking at products on retail shelves and identify where you could propose a packaging concept that would make a real difference.
  3. Email to your allocated IPSA mentor your choice of the one project brief plus a packaging concept and possible solution to the packaging challenge, including initial marketing and technical ideas. You will be supplied with a standard check sheet to aid you in this exercise. To be emailed by 25th April latest (as per class programme). Your choice will be discussed with you, if necessary, and approved before you are set to start on your proposal. So the sooner you get this selection completed, the more time you can use on the project. Your choice is not set in stone and can be changed with IPSA’s approval within one month of the start. But obviously this move will set you back in time.

  4. Develop your assignment as a report of your packaging proposal and solution to the packaging challenge as laid out in your chosen project brief. You will need to submit THE WRITTEN SUBMISSION as digital files and the physical THE MOCK-UP. Please consult these two guideline sections by clicking the link on each, to confirm and ensure your understand what is required in the written submission and in preparing a mock up. Entries will be judged primarily on their written submissions and the technical information it contains. The mock-up is used as visual support. The final written submission counts for at least 65% of the score and the mock-up counts 15%; the remainder consists of marks awarded during the year. (see “Mark Allocation” in the Written Submission guidelines). Final delivery date is as per the class programme

  5. Submit your assignment. The deadline is as per the class programme. Download the ENTRY FORM from this link. Complete the form and name / label your submission and mock-up files clearly. Entries not accompanied by the entry form or a copy of the entry form may be disqualified. Ensure that your entry form, your written submission and your mock-up files are clearly identified as belonging to each other. Please do not make us guess which belongs with which!
NB: To aid identification, Give your project an identifying name that is not the same as the title we have given to the Project Brief.
